... and which is dated September 24 th, 1890, and that as a Church in General Conference assembled, we accept his declaration concerning plural marriages as authoritative and binding. The vote to sustain the foregoing motion was unanimous. Salt Lake City, Utah, October 6, 1890. EXCERPTS FROM THREE ADDRESSES BY PRESIDENT WILFORD WOODRUFF REGARDING THE MANIFESTO The Lord will never permit me or any other man who stands as President of this Church to lead you astray.

It is not in the programme. It is not in the mind of God. If I were to attempt that, the Lord would remove me out of my place, and so He will any other man who attempts to lead the children of men astray from the oracles of God and from their duty. (Sixty-first Semiannual General Conference of the Church, Monday, October 6, 1890, Salt Lake City, Utah. Reported in Deseret Evening News, October 11, 1890, p. 2. ) It matters not who lives or who dies, or who is called to lead this Church, they have got to lead it by the inspiration of Almighty God. If they do not do it that way, they cannot do it at all... I have had some revelations of late, and very important ones to me, and I will tell you what the Lord has said to me.

Let me bring your minds to what is termed the manifesto... The Lord has told me to ask the Latter-day Saints a question, and He also told me that if they would listen to what I said to them and answer the question put to them, by the Spirit and power of God, they would all answer alike, and they would all believe alike with regard to this matter. The question is this: Which is the wisest course for the Latter-day Saints to pursue continue to attempt to practice plural marriage, with the laws of the nation against it and the opposition of sixty millions of people, and at the cost of the confiscation and loss of all the Temples, and the stopping of all the ordinances therein, both for the living and the dead, and the imprisonment of the First Presidency and Twelve and the heads of families in the Church, and the confiscation of personal property of the people (all of which of themselves would stop the practice); or, after doing and suffering what we have through our adherence to this principle to cease the practice and submit to the law, and through doing so leave the Prophets, Apostles and fathers at home, so that they can instruct the people and attend to the duties of the Church, and also leave the Temples in the hands of the Saints, so that they can attend to the ordinances of the Gospel, both for the living and the dead? The Lord showed me by vision and revelation exactly what would take place if we did not stop this practice.

If we had not stopped it, you would have had no use for... any of the men in this temple at Logan; for all ordinances would be stopped throughout the land of Zion. Confusion would reign throughout Israel, and many men would be made prisoners. This trouble would have come upon the whole Church, and we should have been compelled to stop the practice. Now, the question is, whether it should be stopped in this manner, or in the way the Lord has manifested to us, and leave our Prophets and Apostles and fathers free men, and the temples in the hands of the people, so that the dead may be redeemed.

A large number has already been delivered from the prison house in the spirit world by this people, and shall the work go on or stop? This is the question I lay before the Latter-day Saints. You have to judge for yourselves. I want you to answer it for yourselves. I shall not answer it; but I say to you that that is exactly the condition we as a people would have been in had we not taken the course we have...

I saw exactly what would come to pass if there was not something done. I have had this spirit upon me for a long time. But I want to say this: I should have let all the temples go out of our hands; I should have gone to prison myself, and let every other man go there, had not the God of heaven commanded me to do what I did do; and when the hour came that I was commanded to do that, it was all clear to me. I went before the Lord, and I wrote what the Lord told me to write...

I leave this with you, for you to contemplate and consider. The Lord is at work with us. (Cache Stake Conference, Logan, Utah, Sunday, November 1, 1891. Reported in Deseret Weekly, November 14, 1891. ) Now I will tell you what was manifested to me and what the Son of God performed in this thing... All these things would have come to pass, as God Almighty lives, had not that Manifesto been given.

Therefore, the Son of God felt disposed to have that thing presented to the Church and to the world for purposes in his own mind. The Lord had decreed the establishment of Zion. He had decreed the finishing of this temple. He had decreed that the salvation of the living and the dead should be given in these valleys of the mountains. And Almighty God decreed that the Devil should not thwart it. If you can understand that, that is a key to it. (From a discourse at the sixth session of the dedication of the Salt Lake Temple, April 1893.

Typescript of Dedicatory Services, Archives, Church Historical Department, Salt Lake City, Utah. ) Living prophets Throughout history, God has chosen prophets, such as Noah, Abraham, Moses, and others, to teach the gospel and direct His Church (Amos 3: 7). It is no different today. We all need Gods guidance in a world that is sometimes confusing. Because God loves His children, He continues to send living prophets. Joseph Smith (180544) was the first prophet of our time. Gordon B.

Hinckley is Gods chosen prophet today. Just as God led the Israelites out of slavery and to a better place through His prophet Moses, He leads His children today into happier, more peaceful lives when they choose to follow His living prophet. We invite you to listen to the words of living prophets and consider how knowing Gods will can benefit your life. (Amos 3: 7) 7 Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, abut he brevealeth his c secret unto his servants the d prophets. Authority to baptize As Joseph Smith was translating the Book of Mormon, he and his friend Oliver Cowdery read Jesus Christs teachings about baptism by immersion for the remission of sins (Book of Mormon, 3 Nephi 11: 2127).

On 15 May 1829, Joseph and Oliver prayed for direction concerning baptism. Their prayer was answered by a heavenly messenger. The resurrected John the Baptist appeared to them and gave them the priesthood of Aaron, or Aaronic Priesthood, which has the authority to preach the gospel of repentance and to baptize. Joseph and Oliver then baptized each other in the nearby Susquehanna River. This event marked the beginning of the restoration of the priesthood, which had been taken from the earth during the period of Apostasy. (3 Nephi 11: 21 - 27) 21 And the Lord said unto him: I give unto you answer that ye shall baptize this people when I am again ascended into heaven. 22 And again the Lord called fathers, and said unto them likewise; and he gave unto them power to baptize.

And he said unto them: On this wise shall ye baptize; and there shall be by disputations among you. 23 Verily I say unto you, that whoso repented of his sins through your awards, and bdesireth to be baptized in my name, on this wise shall ye baptize them Behold, ye shall go down and chand in the water, and in my name shall ye baptize them. 24 And now behold, these are the words which ye shall say, calling them by name, saying: 25 Having a authority given me of Jesus Christ, I baptize you in the name of the b Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Amen. 26 And then shall ye a immerse them in the water, and come forth again out of the water. 27 And after this manner shall ye a baptize in my name; for behold, verily I say unto you, that the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Ghost are bone; and I am in the Father, and the Father in me, and the Father and I are one. What is immerse? Webster describes immerse as 1. to plunge or dip into a liquid. 2.

to baptize a person by dipping under the water. 3. to get or be deeply in; absorb immersed, immersing, immersion. Baptism Jesus Christ taught that we must be baptized by immersion. He set the example Himself by being baptized to fulfill all righteousness (Matthew 3: 11 - 17). We are baptized for the remission of sins. (Acts 2: 38, Acts 22: 16). We are also baptized to become members of the Church of Jesus Christ, and to enter the kingdom of God (John 3: 5).

Through the ordinance of baptism, we make a promise, called a covenant, with God. We promise to accept Christ, to become His followers, and to keep His commandments to the end of our lives. In return, our Heavenly Father promises to forgive our sins and let us return to live with Him, provided we keep our covenants. (Matthew 3: 11 - 17) 11 aI indeed baptize you with water unto c repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not dorothy to bear: he shall e baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire: 12 Whose afan is in his hand, and he will throughly purge his floor, and gather his wheat into the banner; but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable care. 13 Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be a baptized of him. 14 But John format him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comes thou to me? 15 And Jesus answering said unto him, a Suffer it to be so now: for thus it bbe cometh us to c fulfil all d righteousness. Then he suffered him. 16 And Jesus, when he was a baptized, went up b straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the c Spirit of God descending like a drive, and lighting upon him: 17 And lo a advice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved c Son, in whom I am well pleased. (Acts 2: 38) 38 Then Peter again unto them, b Repent, and be c baptized every one of you in the date of Jesus Christ for the e remission of sins, and ye shall receive the fit of the g Holy Ghost. (Acts 22: 16) 16 And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be a baptized, and beach away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord. (John 3: 5) 5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be about of better and of the c Spirit, he cannot peter into the kingdom of God. The Word of Wisdom Your body is a precious gift from God.

To help keep our bodies and our minds healthy and strong, God gave a law of health to Joseph Smith in 1833. This law is known as the Word of Wisdom. In addition to emphasizing the benefits of proper eating and physical and spiritual health, God has spoken against the use of: Tobacco. Alcohol. Coffee and tea. Illegal drugs.

God promises great physical and spiritual blessings to those who follow the Word of Wisdom. Today, the scientific community promotes some of the same principles that a loving God gave to Joseph Smith nearly two centuries ago. Authority of Apostles Not long after Joseph Smith and Oliver Cowdery received the Aaronic Priesthood, the ancient Apostles Peter, James, and John appeared to them as heavenly messengers. These Apostles gave Joseph and Oliver the greater, or Melchizedek Priesthood. This gave them the authority to organize Christs Church and direct the preaching of the gospel throughout the world. Christs ancient Apostles ordained Joseph and Oliver as Apostles and special witnesses of Christ in our day.

With this ordination, the same authority to act in Gods name that was enjoyed in Christs original Church was restored to the earth. What do Mormons believe about God? God is perfect, all-wise, and all-powerful the ruler of the universe. He is also merciful, kind, and just. He is our Father in Heaven. We are created in His image (Genesis 1: 27).

He has a body that looks like ours, but Gods body is immortal, perfected, and has a glory that words can't describe. Because we are His children, He knows and loves each of us individually. He has a plan to help His children find joy in this life and return to live with Him when this life is over. (Genesis 1: 27) 27 So God created man in his own animate, in the image of God created he him; male and b female created he them. Basic beliefs God is our Heavenly Father.

He loves us and wants us to return to Him. Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is our Savior. He redeems us from death by providing the Resurrection. He saves us from sin as we repent. Through the Atonement of Jesus Christ, we can return to live with God if we keep His commandments.

The Holy Ghost helps us to recognize truth. The first principles and ordinances of the gospel are faith in Jesus Christ, repentance, baptism, and receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost. The Church of Jesus Christ has been restored to the earth. The priesthood authority of God exists in His Church today, just as it did in the original Church. The Bible and the Book of Mormon are the word of God. God reveals His will to prophets today, just as He did anciently.

Our life has a sacred purpose. Families can be together forever. Through serving others, we can experience joy and draw closer to God. The law of tithing The principle of tithing, or voluntarily giving one tenth of ones income to Gods work, has been known since Old Testament times. Abraham paid tithes to Melchizedek (Genesis 14: 1720). The law of tithing is how the Lord funds His Church.

Today all faithful members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints contribute one tenth of their income as tithing. Tithing funds are used for: Constructing temples, chapels, and other buildings. Providing operating funds for the Church. Funding the missionary program. Preparing materials used in Church classes and organizations. Temple work, family history, and many other important Church functions.

Education. When the Lord reminded His people of this law through the prophet Malachi in the Old Testament, He promised to bless those who were willing to pay an honest tithe (Malachi 3: 10). (Genesis 14: 1720) 17 And the king of Sodom went out to meet him after his return from the slaughter of Chedorlaomer, and of the kings that were with him, at the valley of Save, which is the aking's dale. 18 And a Melchizedek king of b Salem brought forth cream and wine: date he was the earliest of the most high God. 19 And he blessed him, and said, a Blessed be Abram of the most high b God, c possessor of heaven and earth: 20 And assessed be the most high God, which hath delivered thine enemies into thy hand. And he gave him bites of all. (Malachi 3: 10) 10 Bring ye all the a tithes into the storehouse, that there may be best in mine house, and curve me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not does you the e windows of heaven, and pour you out a flossing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. Temples Temples are houses of the Lord, the most sacred structures on the earth. Anciently, the Lord directed Solomon to build a temple (1 Chronicles 28: 1).

After Jesus Christ restored His Church through Joseph Smith, He again directed that temples be built. In the temples, Church members participate in ordinances designed to unite their families together forever and help them return to God. In the temples, members Learn eternal truths Receive sacred ordinances, including those that bind husband and wife together for eternity, as well as join children and parents (Malachi 4: 5) Provide ordinances such as baptism for those who have died without the opportunity to receive the gospel (1 Peter 4: 6; 1 Corinthians 15: 29) (1 Chronicles 28: 1) 1 AND David assembled all the a princes of Israel, the princes of the tribes, and the b captains of the companies that ministered to the king by course, and the captains over the thousands, and captains over the hundreds, and the stewards over all the c substance and possession of the king, and of his sons, with the officers, and with the mighty men, and with all the valiant men, unto Jerusalem. (Malachi 4: 5) 5 Behold, I will and you b Elijah the prophet c before the coming of the direct and dreadful ebay of the LORD: (1 Peter 4: 6) 6 a For for this cause was the b gospel c preached also to them that are dead, that they might be edged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit. (1 Corinthians 15: 29) 29 Else what shall they do which are a baptized book the dead, if the dead christ not at all? why are they then baptized for the dead? Missionaries There is a strong tradition of missionary service in the Church. The Savior taught, Go ye therefore, and teach all nations (Matthew 28: 19).

Church members consider it a privilege to show their love for other people and the Lord by sharing the gospel. Missionaries generally begin serving when they are from 19 to 21 years old. Many retired seniors, men, women, and married couples also serve missions. Missionaries serve from 18 months to 2 years. Missions are voluntary, and missionaries are not paid for their service. Missionaries come from around the world, and they serve wherever they are called by the Church.

While serving full-time, missionaries are official representatives of the Church. Before serving a mission, a person completes an application process. Each missionary call is issued from Church headquarters. The missionary then enters one of 15 missionary training centers around the world for 3 weeks of training, or 9 weeks if the missionary will learn a foreign language. Missionaries teach the gospel to those who are interested. They also perform community service.

Some missionaries have special assignments to assist with health, welfare, or other needs. Missionaries are instructed to have the deepest respect for the laws and customs of the countries where they serve and to respect the right of all people to determine how they will worship. Missionaries are often far from home and family and welcome the opportunity to visit with and learn about the people they are serving. (Matthew 28: 19) 19 Go ye therefore, and attach all b nations, c baptizing them in the name of the d Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Missionary work The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is actively involved in teaching the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. More than 60, 000 volunteer missionaries throughout the world share the joy they have found in the gospel. Most of them are young, single people serving full time for 18 to 24 months at their own expense. These missionaries share a message about Jesus Christ and His Atonement for all people.

They teach about our Heavenly Fathers great plan of salvation, which allows all people the opportunity to return to Him. Atonement It is impossible to put into words the full meaning of the Atonement, which is the most important event in the history of the world. Through His suffering in the Garden of Gethsemane and on the cross, the Savior atoned for our sins. This is the good news for all people! We cant fully understand how Jesus suffered for our sins. But we know that in the Garden of Gethsemane, the weight of our sins caused Him to feel such agony that He bled from every pore (Luke 22: 3944).

Later, as He hung upon the cross, Jesus willingly suffered painful death by one of the most cruel methods ever known. The Savior tells us: For behold, I... have suffered these things for all, that they might not suffer... even as I. [Doctrine and Covenants 19: 1617 ] Jesus Christ did what only He could do in atoning for our sins.

To make His Atonement fully effective in our individual lives, we must have faith in Christ, repent of our sins, be baptized, receive the Holy Ghost, obey God's commandments, and strive to become like Him. As we do these things through His Atonement, we can return to live with Him and our Heavenly Father forever. (Luke 22: 3944) 39 And he came out, and went, as he was about, to the mount of Olives; and his disciples also followed him. 40 And when he was at the place, he said unto them, Pray that ye enter not into a temptation. 41 And he was withdrawn from them about a stones cast, and kneeled down, and prayed, 42 Saying, Father, if thou be willing, anemone this cup from me: nevertheless not my bill, but thine, be done 43 And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him. 44 And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: band his sweat was as it were great drops of cloud falling down to the ground. (Doctrine and Covenants 19: 1617) 16 For behold, I, God, have a suffered these things for all, that they might not buffer if they would cement; 17 But if they would not repent they must a suffer even as I; Who am I? You are a child of God daughter or son of your Heavenly Father, who knows you and loves you. You lived with your Heavenly Father before you were born.

He has known you and loved you from the beginning. You are created in the image of God. Your Heavenly Father has created this world for you to learn, to grow, and to become like Him. Eventually, you can return to live with Him forever. For this purpose, He has sent His Son into the world.

Through the Savior, nothing can separate us from the love of God (Romans 8: 39). You are a child of God, whom He loves. This is your oldest, deepest, and most basic identity. (Romans 8: 35, 37 - 39) 35 Who shall separate us from the above of Christ? shall b tribulation, or distress, or c persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? 37 Nay, in all these things we are amore than b conquerors through him that loved us. 38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, 39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to a separate us from the blog of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Where did I come from? You didnt suddenly spring into existence the moment you were born. You were happy in Heavenly Fathers presence, but He knew that you needed more in order to progress. You did not have a physical body like you do now, and you needed a chance to gain experience on your own away from His presence, but with the ability to communicate with Him and receive help. So He sent you to Earth, hoping that you would return to Him and receive everything He has to offer you. Before you were born, you lived with your Heavenly Father as one of His beloved spirit children.

You knew and loved Him, and He knew and loved you. Although you have forgotten your life before you were born, your Heavenly Father has not. He knows you and loves you. He wants you to come to know and love Him, too. Why am I here on Earth?

You are not on Earth by accident. There is a purpose for your mortal existence. You are here to receive a physical body, gain experience, and develop divine attributes like justice, mercy, and love. God did not send you here without a plan. His plan is designed to bring you, and all His children, greater peace in this life matter what its trials and eternal joy in the life to come. It is a plan of eternal salvation and happiness.

To partake of His plan, Heavenly Father invites you to: Come to know and love Him and His Son, Jesus Christ. Learn to love others as He loves them. Learn to choose right over wrong. Commit yourself to Him through ordinances such as baptism. Your part in Gods plan You have a divine mission, a part to fulfill in Heavenly Fathers plan. You are here to receive a body and to gain experience.

Heavenly Father wants you to learn those things that will help you become more like Him. He wants you to learn to control your body, to choose right over wrong, and to walk by faith in Jesus Christ. He knew that you could not learn these things or progress if you stayed with Him. So, much as a parent sends a child to school, Heavenly Father sent you to Earth. He expects you to learn many lessons here in mortality, such as: To be humble, obedient, and kind.

To love and serve Him and His children. To devote your life to doing good and helping His other children to follow the example and teachings of Jesus Christ. As you do so, you will prepare yourself to return to Him. This is His plan for you. How can I find direction in my life?

There are so many voices telling us what to do and how to think that its easy to become confused. But your Heavenly Father has not left you to figure everything out alone. By turning to God, you can find answers to your questions and meaning in your lifes experiences, no matter how difficult they may seem. You can receive direction from your Heavenly Father in several ways: Prayer puts you in direct communication with God, who can reveal answers to you. The scriptures contain truth as revealed through Gods prophets. Many people have found answers in the scriptures, and so can you.

God has also provided special witnesses in our time called apostles and prophets. Listening to them can give you direction for dealing with lifes challenges. God is the ultimate source of truth. He will never lead you astray. He loves you, and He is anxious to help you as you turn to Him in faith. Where do we go after we die?

Death is not the end. Death is really a beginning another step forward in Heavenly Fathers plan for His children. Someday, like everyone else, your life on Earth will end and your physical body will die. But your spirit will not die. At the time of physical death, your spirit will go to the spirit world, where you will continue to learn and progress. Death is a necessary step in your progression, just as your birth was.

Sometime after your death, your spirit and your body will be reunited never to be separated again. This is called resurrection, and it was made possible by the death and Resurrection of Jesus Christ. Death is another beginning From an earthly perspective death looks like an end. But it is really a beginning, just as birth is. It is a step forward in Heavenly Fathers plan. At death, your spirit leaves your body and moves on to the spirit world.

This is a place of learning and preparation. After a time, your body and your spirit will be reunited, never again to be separated. This is called resurrection. It is a gift to every person who ever lived, made possible by the death and Resurrection of Jesus Christ. What is heaven like? Heaven is the place where God lives and the future home of those who follow Him.

The hope of our Heavenly Father and the goal of each person on this earth is to return to live with Him. This means that the opportunity to return to our Heavenly Father has been provided through the grace of our Savior, Jesus Christ. After we are resurrected we will be judged and rewarded for the things we have done in this life. Jesus Christ taught His Apostles that in His Fathers house are many mansions (John 14: 2). Our loving Heavenly Father is anxious to reward all of His children according to their obedience to His commandments and their willingness to follow the Savior.

Those who do these things and are worthy to return to the presence of God and Christ become heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ (Romans 8: 17) of all that the Father has. They will return to live with Heavenly Father and with their families in His eternal glory. Those who choose not to follow our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ will receive a reward according to what they have done in this life, but they will not enjoy the glory of living in the presence of God. (John 14: 2) 2 In my Fathers abuse are many b mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. (Romans 8: 17) 17 And if children, then heirs; airs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we buffer with him, that we may be also glorified together. Nature of God Most people believe in a Supreme Being, even though they may call Him by different names.

We know that God, our Heavenly Father, lives. He knows you and each of us and loves us all as His children. We are commanded to love God (Matthew 22: 3638). Jesus Christ taught that we must know the only true God to have eternal life (John 17: 3).

As His children, we must know who He is and what He is like. As you come to know and love God, you will find greater peace and joy, both in this life and in the life to come. (Matthew 22: 3638) 36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law? 37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt above the Lord thy God with all thy breast, and with all thy soul, and with all thy china. 38 This is the first and great a commandment. (John 17: 3) 3 And this is alife b eternal, that they might canon thee the only true d God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast event. God, our Heavenly Father Jesus taught that God is Our Father which art in heaven (Matthew 6: 9). We call God Heavenly Father because He is the Father of our spirits. As your Father, God knows and loves you personally. He wants you to find joy in this life and return to live with Him when this life is over.

He has prepared a plan to help you do these things. It is the plan of salvation, a plan of happiness. It offers peace in this life and eternal life in the world to come. (Matthew 6: 9) 9 a After this manner therefore bay ye: Our c Father which art in heaven, d Hallowed be thy enable. Jesus Christ Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is Heavenly Fathers Only Begotten Son in the flesh. He is our Redeemer.

Through Jesus Christ, Heavenly Father has provided a way for all people to become like Him and return to live with Him forever. We love Christ. We worship Christ. He is our example and our Savior. Do the Mormons value education? Gordon B.

Hinckley, President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, said: "We hope that our people will gain education. We put very strong emphasis on education. It is a mandate from the Lord as we regard it, and we urge that very strongly with our own people and would hope that would carry over to others... Surveys have indicated that the higher the education, the more faithful the individual...

We expect people to think. We want them to think. We want them to dig. We want them to read. We want them to improve their minds, and with that message of hope and growth we reach out to them.

That is our doctrine which we teach and we hope it bears fruit. 'The glory of God is intelligence, or, ... light and truth' (Doctrine and Covenants 93: 36). If we have a motto, that is it. " (Doctrine and Covenants 93: 36) 36 The alloy of God is b intelligence, or, in other words, client and truth. Are Mormons Christians? Webster describes Christians as a person who believes in Jesus as the Messiah and in the religion base on the teachings of Jesus adj. 1.

of Jesus or his teachings. 2. belonging to the religion based on these teachings. 3. having the qualities that Christians are supposed to have, kindness, charity, and humbleness. Are Mormons Christians? Yes, in the name of the church goes to show you the Mormons are. In 1838, Joseph Smith was told in a revelation that the Church should be called The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (Doctrine and Covenants 115: 4). (Doctrine and Covenants 115: 4) 4 For thus shall amy church be called in the last days, even The Church of Jesu
