The dropping of the atomic bomb in Hiroshima on August 6, 1945 was a very devastating period in time. It changed many lives of civilians and families. All though many people died and suffered because of the bomb, I believe that it was necessary. In other word I am considered to be PRO about the whole incident.

What started the war was the fact that the Japanese bombed pearl harbor on December 7, 1941, it had been a surprise attack on the major U. S base. That basically set the United States off and they decided to counter attacked by using an atomic bomb on the city of Hiroshima. The bomb wiped out 68 % of the whole city and 60, 000 to 70, 000 people were killed or reported missing after the bomb had dropped.

The bomb had been very expensive to construct and took 200, 000 people to help construct it, in result of all this, many people had been losing jobs. The bomb itself cost 5 billion dollars, so the U. S was definitely worked up to try it out. Another reason why they used it was that they didnt want the Japanese to think that they were not going to use the bomb, and not going to get back at them for destroying Pearl Harbor. What had been quoted by Harry S. Truman that also led to me being Pro was that he said, The world will note that the first atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima, a military base.

We won the race of discovery against the Germans. We have used it in order to shorten the agony of war in order to save the lives of thousands and thousands of young Americans. We shall continue to use it until we completely defeat japans power to make war. Basically all it meant was that if we never dropped the bomb thousands and thousands more people would have died on both sides of the war, it had been dropped to save lives and to make the war much shorter, which it did. All though many believed in the bomb being dropped such as myself, many believed that it had been an inhumane act of nature and that it was completely unsanitary towards humans and all living things.

People thought to believe that there was no way for any country to prepare for a bomb that had been as big as the one dropped on Hiroshima. The bomb itself had been equivalent to 20, 000 tons of TNT, and had a temperature of 300, 000 degrees centigrade at impact. To top that off, the after effects of the bomb had been tremendously crucial because the atomic bomb put off radiation that had spread through out the city of Hiroshima. People had became very ill and certain symptoms had indicated that they were getting radiation poisoning.

Vomiting occurred, weakness and many other things, not to mention the fact about getting cancer, and losing So basically there had been many good reasons to be for the bomb and against the bomb being dropped. But to compare and contrast the two it would be safe to say that even though the bomb in my mind was a good thing, nobody deserves to die just because it cost the United States so much money to construct a huge bomb. But it would also be safe to say that even though there wasnt any way to prepare for the bomb being dropped or the after effects of the bomb being dropped, there would have been thousands of more deaths than what had happened if the bomb never was dropped, it also put a quicker end The bombing of Hiroshima had may pluses and many flaws to it, but I considered it necessary, and even though I believe that people dont deserve to die for any reason, I also believe that if it jeopardizes my country and the people that represent my country, I would much rather it be them than them and us.
