It was a cold rainy November day. Kyle was home from school on Thanksgiving vacation. He was driving his mom up the wall, so she decided to give me some chores. The good kid that Kyle is, he decided to them for a change.

The first item on the list was to clean out his closet. Kyle usually hated to clean his closet, but for some reason this day was different. Kyle had clothes laying everywhere. No wonder he could never find anything. While he was cleaning, he found things he thought he had lost years ago. Kyle even found his Michael Jordan signed painting.

He would have killed himself if he had lost that. Underneath all of his clothes lied a ball. This ball was white with black marks on it. In order to throw this ball, there were red stitches to grip it with. This ball was a baseball. He thought to himself, I can not believe I found this.

This ball was the highlight of my childhood. Kyle was overjoyed with the thought of finding this ball. He stopped cleaning and sat down and stared at the baseball for countless hours. He could picture it like it was yesterday.

It was a hot humid day in late June, and Kyle was thrilled to be playing his first all-star game. He got up two hours before he needed to. He dressed in his uniform and put eye black on his face. He wore high blue socks with black Nike spikes. He got out his blue Nike batting gloves, and put them in his back pocket.

In the other pocket he placed his sunflower seeds. Kyle looked in the mirror a couple of times to make sure everything looked perfect. The only thing he forgot was his wristband. So Kyle went looking through his draws for his wristband. He found it finally underneath his Sports Illustrated for Kids magazine.

In those days he would to try to look like the professional baseball players inside that magazine. On this day Kyle played like a professional. It was the first of two games that day. The first game featured Littlestown against Gettysburg. Kyle was playing for Littlestown of course.

By game time the weather was beautiful. The birds were chirping and the dandelions covered the outfield. The players in the outfield loved to blow the dandelions, and watch them blow in the wind. It was a tradition each game to blow on a dandelion for good luck. When the game started, the butterflies started to swarm inside Kyles little stomach. He was so nervous that you could see his skinny body shaking.

Littlestown took the field first, because they were the home team. While Littlestown ran out onto the field, Tim Bowersox, was struck in the head with a baseball bat. The opposing player was practicing swinging his bat, when suddenly he hit Tim in the head. Chaos broke loose as Mr. Bowersox ran onto the field. He was upset at the opposing player for hitting Tim in the head.

After Tim was attended to, Mr. Bowersox took him to the hospital. What a way to start off the game with one of your teammates getting whacked in the head by the other team. Kyle was highly upset and thought that Tim was going to die. Kyles coach came out on the field and calmed him and the rest of the team down. After everyone calmed down, the game started.

Derek Kipple was on the pitchers mound for the bolts. The first batter struck out on three straight pitches. Everyone in the infield ran to the mound to give Derek a high five. In the outfield they just kept blowing on those dandelions. The next batter hit a ball right at Kyle. He put his glove down, picked up the ball, and threw the batter out at first base.

The crowd cheered and Kyle had a grin on his face from ear to ear. Doug Where came over from third base to give Kyle a pat on the back. The next batter hit a pop up to first and Nathan Wertz caught it to end the top of the first inning. Kyle was the third batter of the first inning and he was now up at the plate. He hit his bat against his spikes and stepped into the batters box. The pitcher got the signal from the catcher and got into his wind up.

Kyle waited eagerly never taking his eye off the ball. He hit the ball so hard it went soaring over the fence in a matter of seconds. The ball ended up hitting a player playing on the field beside them. It was sort of funny, until the kid went down and did not get back up. The fans jumped for joy.

Kyle ran to each base with a huge smile that was simply priceless. His teammates lined up at home plate and attacked him with high fives, and pats on the back. You could tell Kyle was filled with excitement. His mom came running down to him and gave him a huge hug and a kiss. Kyle was totally embarrassed now. All the guys taunted him for his mom giving him a kiss.

Kyle replied, At least I hit a homerun! One of Kyles teammates yelled out at him, I bet you cannot hit another one. Kyle replied, I bet you five dollars I will hit another one. The next time Kyle got up, he had it set in his mind that he was going to hit another homerun. He stared at the fence, then his bat, and then the fence again.

Kyle then stepped into the batters box and stared at the pitcher. The pitcher threw the ball at the exact same spot as before, and Kyle hit another homerun. His teammates could not believe what was happening. Two homerun's in one game is quite an accomplishment for a nine-year-old kid.

Kyles mom again could not help herself, but to run down to the dug out to at least get a picture of him walking across home plate. His teammates congratulated him and he received the ball at the end of the game. Kyle was named Most Valuable Player for that two-homerun performance. The teammate who said that Kyle could not hit two homerun's in one game has not paid him to this day. Kyles mom was now calling him for dinner. He put his baseball back in the shoebox, and ran downstairs to eat.
