Would you like to know the outcome of an animal rebellion against human beings? In Animal Farm written by Gorge Orwell you will find out how the animals managed to maintain a farm without the supervision of men. This story takes place on the green fields of England. At Manor Farm soon called Animal Farm. This was a very peaceful place because the only thing that area had were farms. All the characters of Animal Farm play a very important role.

Mr. Jones is the owner of Manor Farm. He just wanted to sleep and drink alcohol. He didn't feed his animals correctly so this caused an important conflict.

The Old Major is a pig that motivated every animal of the farm to rebel against human beings. He tries to convince the animals by telling them the injustice that Mr. Jones has made against them. He died soon after that speech. Snowball and Napoleon were a couple of pigs that after the Rebellion were the ones that decided all the things for the benefit of their farm and the animals. Boxer is a horse that works harder all the time to make the farm better.

Clover and Benjamin are two cows, like Boxer they work very hard. The rest of the characters are not so important to the development of the farm. Like for example; Molly, Muriel, Minimus, Squealer, etc. The characters seem to enter the same life as men. That's why almost all the animals were breaking their backs at the request of others. All the animals thought that, as the pigs were the most intelligent, everything they said was for the benefit of all.

Hinting that a system exactly like this worked when Mr. Jones was there. The story enters a conflict. This conflict is that the animals wanted to rebel against Mr.

Jones and his men because of their bad treatment of the animals. One day the animals propose a rebellion and remove the men from the farm. From now on the farm belonged to the animals. They started to maintain it with their own methods.

Of course the cleverest ones, the pigs, supervised all. The years passed and each time it was more difficult for the animals to satisfactorily develop the farm. Conflicts between animals started to take place in the story. Snowball and Napoleon started to dislike each other.

Napoleon managed to kick Snowball out of the farm telling his comrades, all the animals, that he was a traitor. So soon Napoleon became the most important animal of the farm. At the beginning of the animals' rebellion they had established seven commandments that each animal should follow. During Napoleon's reign these commandments started to be violated.

The commandments said that any animal should never acquire the bad habits that the humans have. Since the pigs were the most intelligent ones they started to act like humans although they tried to make all the animals think that it was not true. At the end of the story the animals realized that the pigs were the same as men and men were the same as pigs. As a conclusion the rebellion against men, so that animals could be the ones that controlled the farm on their own, will remain as in the beginning when men (or pigs) controlled everything and did whatever they wanted. The theme of the story is that in the beginning, a Utopian society worked satisfactorily.

Because after animals rebelled against men all the animals were equal and they worked very hard for the benefit of all. At the end this society started to vanish and the equality was lost. For me, that's why the Utopian society will never work because someone that is smarter than another, will control and manipulate the less smart one whenever he wants. My favorite part of the story is when the animals have made a windmill by working two years on it and a group of men ruin it. So this caused the animals' anger and they wanted to kill those men. The thing I liked the most was when the animals fought against those men to defend their property.

I will recommend this story to anyone because it is very easy to read and to understand it. Also because it is a very interesting book and you will learn a lot with it. Bibliography:
