Emily and a band of women in the early World War I attempted to do what had never been done before by any women acting together as women to enter into international political activity, bringing to birth a new spirit, a new approach, generating a new reconstructive force in the world. Emily and the other women were the first in 1914 and 1915 to get involved Emily Greene Balch was born After Civil War, on Jan 8, 1867 in Jamaica, Plains. Then she was raised in a small community in the neighbor- hood of Bostan. Emily a member of the first graduating class at By Mawr (Pennsylvania) College, she taught at Wellesely (Massachusetts) College from 1897.
She founded a settlement house in Bostan and served on the Massachusetts commissions on industrial relations (1908 - 09) and immigration (1913 - 14) and in Bostan city planning board (1914 - 17). Other women began to realize that if they spoke out more maybe they could be apart of history in the world back then. The impact brought different ideas together In 1946 Emily Balch had become the first american women to recieve the Nobel Peace Prize.

F. and Veteran of so many Congresses. In 1946, the United States Section had published a Biographical sketch of Emily Greene Balch of New England, citizen of the world. Emily recieved in her recognition Honor and Encouragement. Emily always encouraged people to do what was best for them and what Emily ended her life in Cambridge, Massachusetts, on January 9, 1961.
