In general society, it was believed that the peasants had few rights, often imposed harsh and unfair taxes on them. This has affected the king because he would get more money by collecting the taxes the peasants are paying to him. A revolt called the Jacquerie broke out. It was named after Jacques Bonhomme (good fellow), a happy agricultural worker.
